If you do not fill up your cartridge straight away it will dry and clog the micro holes at the printer head. This will then lead to all sorts of problems. The foremost of these being that they ink does not come out. So a good way of preventing this is to have two cartridges one in the printer and one that is filled and ready to use. But if you do not have two cartridges then make sure that you refill the cartridge as soon as it runs out (do not wait).

However if you wish to avoid these types of problems then make sure that you follow the instructions which come with your Lexmark ink refill. Most importantly of all you should follow the instructions provided to the letter.
